1. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small files that are downloaded to your device when you access our site, with the purpose of recognizing your device or storing information about your preferences or previous actions. They are used to help you navigate efficiently and perform certain functions on all our Sites.

Other tracking technologies such as pixel tags or web beacons may also be used on your device to collect unique identifiers associated with it and other data such as your IP address. Pixel tags or web beacons are small images placed on a web page or in an email. The web beacon works as a tag that records a user's visit to a particular web page or viewing of a particular email.

Some tracking technologies are specific to mobile applications, such as SDKs (Software Development Kit). SDKs are toolkits that help our application work in an iOS or Android environment. SDKs help us understand how you interact with Our Site and collect certain information about the device and network you use to access it. They also help our applications communicate with third parties through what is called an application programming interface or API (for example, when you share content on Facebook). SDKs may then collect and send data back to the third parties that provide them (e.g. Google or Apple, Facebook, etc.), which may be used to build your profile as an application user.

These tracking technologies use data in the same way as cookies and are therefore subject to this policy.

We use the term "cookies" in this document for all different types of tracking technologies as a facilitator for the global understanding of all our Sites.

2. What cookies may be used?

The types of cookies we use may be:

  • Session cookies: such cookies allow our site to connect your actions during a session and are automatically deleted when you close the session on our site.

  • Persistent cookies: such cookies remain stored on your device until they reach a defined expiration date, which may be days or minutes. They can be used for a variety of purposes, including remembering your preferences and choices when using a site or for targeted advertising.

  • First-party cookies: such cookies are stored by the site you visit to improve your experience and are set by a site owner (us).

  • Third-party cookies: such cookies are set by a technology provider, such as an analytics company, advertising network or independent social platform.

Specifically, the cookies used on our site are classified as follows:

  • Strictly necessary cookies;

  • Functional cookies;

  • Audience measurement cookies;

  • Targeting cookies (which may also include social media cookies).

A. Strictly necessary cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are cookies that must be present for the Site to provide basic functions, and without them, the Site and its functionalities would not work properly.

Typically, these are only set in response to actions you take that amount to a service request, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or completing forms (e.g., to register for events or provide feedback). They may also keep your session open when you authenticate on the Site.

Your consent is not required for these cookies under applicable regulations, but you must be informed about their use.

More information about the various strictly necessary cookies used on our site, including data retention period, purpose and third parties, if any, can be found in the cookie settings and in sections 3 and 4 of this policy.

B. Functional cookies

Functional cookies help us remember settings you've selected or assist with other functionalities when using Our Site. This helps us remember your preferences when you return to our site.

These cookies improve functionality and personalization. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we've added to our site. You can set your browser or cookie settings to block these cookies, but please note that in this case, some or all of these functionalities may not work properly and some parts of our site may not function.

You can manage your consent and find more information about the various functional cookies used on our site, including data storage period, purpose and third parties, if any, in the cookie settings and in sections 3 and 4 of this policy.

C. Audience measurement cookies

Audience measurement cookies, which include analytics technologies, help us with our site's performance and design. This function allows us to measure how often a page has been visited, know which pages and features are most and least popular, and see how visitors navigate the Site to improve your experience.

These cookies might also count visitors who accessed our site after viewing a Tukio banner ad on a third-party site.

If you don't accept these cookies or withdraw your consent, we won't have supporting information to improve our site or determine how well it's received by our end users. These cookies essentially allow you to tell us how well our site is working.

The information collected by these cookies may also be aggregated. The site analytics values, reports and statistics, if used alone, do not allow us or our providers to identify an individual user. In this case, the cookie may not be subject to your consent.

You can manage your consent and find more information about the various audience measurement cookies used on our site, including data storage period, purpose and third parties, if any, in the cookie settings and in sections 3 and 4 of this policy.

D. Targeting cookies

Targeting and/or "advertising" cookies are installed on our site by us and our advertising partners to display relevant ads to you and to better reflect your interests rather than generic ads that may not interest you. These cookies may include social media cookies that allow you to share content on social networks and improve the usability of our content through sharing buttons, especially to Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn.

Social networks that provide sharing buttons may only identify you through this process if your account on the relevant network was activated on your terminal. Tukio has no control over the process used by social networks to collect information about you.

Targeting cookies uniquely identify your browser and/or device. If you don't allow these cookies, you won't experience our targeted advertising on different platforms. However, you may still see our untargeted ads on these platforms.

These cookies collect information regarding the origin of your visit, where you were exposed to Tukio advertising, what ad feature you saw, whether you came to our site directly or indirectly, the device you used to visit our site, and what downloads you made.

Additionally, we use cookies in certain parts of our site to communicate with third-party data providers to extrapolate your digital behavior. This helps us understand your behavior and provide more relevant advertising in the future.

You can manage your consent and find more information about the various targeting cookies used on our site, including data retention period, purpose and third parties, if any, in the cookie settings and in sections 3 and 4 of this policy.

3. How long are cookies stored?

Session cookies are automatically deleted when you close your session.

Persistent cookies will be stored on your device for a maximum period of 13 months, unless you delete cookies using your browser settings and clear your browser cache.

More information about the duration of each cookie used on our site can be found in cookie settings.

4. How to manage cookies on our website?

When you first visit our site, a banner will appear aimed at obtaining your consent for cookie usage.

As long as you haven't expressed your choice, this banner will remain visible, in accordance with applicable regulations, and no cookies (other than strictly necessary cookies) will be installed on your device.

When you choose to refuse cookies, an opt-out cookie will be placed on your device so we can record that you've objected to cookie usage. Every six (6) months, we'll ask you to confirm your choice for cookie installation with the reappearance of the cookie banner.

If you delete the opt-out cookie (by clearing your browser cache or using private browsing mode, for example), it will no longer be possible to identify that you've opted out of cookie usage. Consequently, you'll be given the option to choose cookies again the next time you visit our site.

Strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent.

For audience measurement, you can give or withdraw your consent at any time by:

  • Using the cookie settings available on the banner or at any time on our site; Cookie settings provide all the information about the purpose of each cookie that may be installed on your device in the "Cookie Details". Then you can make an informed choice for each category of cookies.

  • Configuring the settings of the device or browser to accept or refuse cookies.

For all these, we would like you to be aware that if you deactivate cookies, you may not be able to fully experience some of the features of our site. For example, you may not be able to benefit from automatic login and other personalized features of our Site.

Remember, you will also need to configure all the different devices (tablets, smartphones, computers) to permanently refuse cookies. There are many ways to configure browsers. We ask you to consult the "Help" section of your browser to understand how to configure it and to exercise your options.

Also, you have the option to deactivate the following third-party cookies:

Regarding social cookies, we ask you to consult the relevant policies of the social networks to learn more about the purposes for which they use the information collected through sharing buttons and to know how to exercise your choices.

5. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may modify this cookie policy statement as necessary. We ask you to note that this policy may change with the entry into force of any applicable regulations or laws, especially in the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation. If changes are made to the policy, they may take effect up to 30 working days before the new practices of confidentiality are implemented. Check this page periodically if you want to monitor changes. Changes to this policy may also determine the reappearance of the Cookie banner.
